12/16	A Day	We have art, computer lab, and library.  All books due.        Homework:  Practice for math center and read your word list.
12/17	B Day	Ice Skating and Ugly Sweater Day! We have Math Center, S.E.L., and music.    Homework: Complete the word work activity.
12/18	C Day	We have art.     Homework: Complete the math page.
12/19	D Day	We have gym and music.                 Homework: Raz Kids
12/20	E Day	We have art. Elf Day/ SJHS Holiday Concert / Party    We do not have homework. Have a safe and wonderful winter break!

Ice Skating: Thank you to those of you who are able to join us ice skating on Tuesday! We will be leaving Lincoln School at 9:30 and return at 10:30. Our lunch will be at 12:05 today. We really appreciate your help supporting getting correct skate sizes and being available to tie and support skaters as they went scooting across the ice. It will be such a great time!

Vacation Reading: Please help your child maintain his/her reading stamina by continuing to read 15 - 20 minute nightly during our vacation from school. Many students are reading much more than the required 15 minutes and learning to make reading a natural part of their day. We appreciate your support.

Lexia Core 5, IXL, Moby Max, RAZ, and Spelling City are available during winter break to maintain your child’s skill level. A few minutes of practice periodically throughout our vacation can help your child feel confident when he/she returns to school in January.

12/9	B Day	We have S.E.L. and music.     Homework:  Practice for math center and read your word list. Math Game Bags brought home today.
12/10	C Day	We have Math Center and art.       Homework: Complete the word worksheet
12/11	D Day	We have a gym and music. Late Start     Homework: Complete the math bag game and return tomorrow.
12/12	E Day	We have art.    Homework: Read and update your reading log.
12/13	F Day	We have gym.      We do not have homework. Pancake Breakfast, Book Fair, and Make-It Take It tomorrow.

Word Work: Our class will be learning about the long i digraph syllable pattern this week. The following words are examples of this pattern: untie, sigh, flight, twilight, and tightly. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.


Monday Morning Meeting: Starting Monday morning our 2nd grade classrooms will gather together to learn big ideas to help with social and emotional learning. Some of the topics we will be talking about are growth mindset, mindfulness, and working memory. Be sure to check in with your student on Mondays to see what they learned at our Monday Morning Meeting.


Ice Skating: Thanks to our PTO and the City of St. Joseph, our Lincoln School K-5 student will be able to ice skate for free at the Howard Ice Arena on Thursday, December 17th. Our second graders will walk with their fifth grade buddies and teachers to and from the ice rink. Students may get ice skates to use at the rink for free or bring their own skates in a duffle bag or brown paper bag. Helmets and safety gear are encouraged. Parents are welcome to join us. It is very helpful to have parents assisting students with putting on and taking off skates. We will be leaving Lincoln School at 9:30 a.m. and returning back to school at 10:30 a.m. We hope to see you there!


Holiday Gift Ideas: If you are looking for gift ideas for your child this holiday earbuds or headphones for computer work, colored pencils, writing journal/diary, and books make wonderful gifts.
