Makers' Day and Halloween Party

It was wonderful morning celebrating being "Makers" with innovative ideas!!!

A big thank you to all the parents who made our Halloween Party special!

Friday, Nov. 1 PJ Day / Read In

and

Our class has worked hard to fill our stone jar twice to earn
PJ Day and a Read-In on Friday, Nov. 1st.  Students may wear their pajamas to school and bring a beach towel or similar sized blanket, small pillow, books, and a snack/ drink.  (Clear pop with a twist top is allowed.) We will spend some time relaxing and reading as a reward for working hard and setting a good example for others.  This time also allows me to listen to individual students read.  Please make sure all items can fit into your child's backpack if he/she rides the bus.

Students will be drawing their characters on paper and making a list of craft materials needed this coming week. If you can help us by sending in a package of straight pins or any kind of craft materials on or before our creation date it would be helpful. A $1.00 donation would be appreciated to help offset the cost of the pumpkins. If this is a hardship, please know your child will be given a pumpkin.

We would also love to have a few parent volunteers to assist students in their
creations during our Daily Five Time from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.  Please let me

Laps for Lincoln:
What a wonderful celebration for an outstanding fundraiser! Thank you so much for your generous donations to our school. I am sure you are as proud of your children as I am for their appreciation of the other classes that worked hard to raise funds and won the Fire and Ice Ice Cream Party.

Math Center Practice Tests:  On Monday, your child is bringing home a math
center practice sheet.  There are three ways to choose to complete the page.
  1. Fill in the answers with no timer completing the entire page.
  2. Set a timer to 2 minutes and have him/her complete as many facts as possible.  When the timer goes off, your child should draw a line after the last problem then finished and complete the rest of the sheet.
  3. Time your child while he/she completes the entire page and write the time on the top of the page. This is similar to running a race. This time is the time to beat as the math facts get easier to remember.
Weekly Word List: Your child will bring home a word list each Monday. Please remember to go through the list with them reading the words and discussing the word rule for the week. Students should be able to independently read the list by the end of the week. This week is a sort of -ed inflected endings. Through the week the children will learn to sort the words by the sound ed makes which is either /d/, /id/, or /t/. The words can be found on spelling city to practice. On Tuesday, students will again bring home their sort cards to practice sorting the words by their sounds. Spelling City Practice: https://www.spellingcity.com/view-spelling-list.html?listId=64231091

Parent Teacher Conferences: I look forward to seeing you in the next week or so to
talk about your wonderful child. Our conference time is 20 minutes long and I have
my conferences scheduled back to back Please let me know as soon as possible if
you are not going to be able to make your conference time.
