Parent Teacher Conferences: Please contact me if your child did not give you your conference scheduling form this past week. Second Trimester Conferences are held a little differently and scheduled with you and your child in mind. It is important I receive all the scheduling forms back as soon as possible so I can meet everyone’s needs in a timely fashion. Thank you

Book Orders: The book order forms for March will be coming home this week. As always, you may order online or you may send in the order form with your check payable to Scholastic. March is Reading Month and we will be asking students to spend more time reading. It would be a great time to purchase new books to continue to fuel your child’s reading. Each time you purchase books for your child, it allows me to select new books for our classroom for free or with bonus points. Everyone benefits. Thank you so much. Book orders will be due Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

March is Reading Month: Watch your child’s folder for information coming home soon about the fun of Reading Month.

Upcoming Sarett Field Trip: We will be going to Sarett on March 19th. We will leave the school at 9:00. Parent chaperones are welcome to join us on this field trip. Valentine’s Day: Thank you to all our parents who made our party special by sending in items and volunteering to help at the party. The children enjoyed playing games, making a craft, sharing valentines, and having a special treat.  I will be sharing a video of the party next week.

Word Work: Our class will be learning about the variant vowel /oo/ syllable patterns this week. Our syllable pattern makes the /oo/ sound in words like moon, soup, screw, and glue. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.

Parent / Teacher Conferences: Conference time is quickly approaching. Conferences will be primarily done on an "as needed basis" for students needing additional academic, social, or emotional support. I know that some parents may want to meet regardless of whether their student falls into this category. Please watch for conference notes coming home this week.

Math Fact Practice: It is almost March with Spring Break around the corner, and we all know how fast the end of the year comes after that. Second graders on Math Fact Levels C and D need this valuable time before spring break to master their facts. I am looking for a couple of parent volunteers to come in on Mondays 12:10 - p.m - 12:30 p.m. to practice math flashcards with students on Level B and C. Please contact me if you are able to help so I can plan for you. Thank you
