     Week of February 17, 2020

1   2/18	F Day	We have gym.   LIBRARY BOOKS DUE TOMORROW.       Homework:  Complete word sheet
2/19	A Day	We have art, computer lab, and library.    Late Start      Homework: Complete math game.
2/20	B Day	We have S.E.L. and  music.       Homework: Your choice of reading: Core 5 or RAZ. (15 min.)       Please make sure you are updating your reading log.
2/21	C Day	We have art.     We do not have homework.  Remember to read and practice your      math facts this weekend.

Valentine’s Day: Thank you to all our parents who made our party special by sending in items and volunteering to help at the party. The children enjoyed playing games, making a craft, sharing valentines, and having a special treat.  I will be sharing a video of the party next week.

Word Work: Our class will be learning about the variant vowel /oo/ syllable patterns this week. Our syllable pattern makes the /oo/ sound in words like moon, soup, screw, and glue. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.

Parent / Teacher Conferences: Conference time is quickly approaching. Conferences will be primarily done on an "as needed basis" for students needing additional academic, social, or emotional support. I know that some parents may want to meet regardless of whether their student falls into this category. Please watch for conference notes coming home this week.

Math Fact Practice: It is almost March with Spring Break around the corner, and we all know how fast the end of the year comes after that. Second graders on Math Fact Levels C and D need this valuable time before spring break to master their facts. I am looking for a couple of parent volunteers to come in on Mondays 12:10 - p.m - 12:30 p.m. to practice math flashcards with students on Level B and C. Please contact me if you are able to help so I can plan for you. Thank you
