     Week of February 3, 2020 

1   2/3	A Day	We have art, computer lab, and library. LIBRARY BOOKS DUE     Homework: Complete Math Center Practice Sheet and review      word list.  Math Game Bags were sent home today.
1   2/4	B Day	We have S.E.L. and music.     Homework:  Complete word sheet
2/5	C Day	We have art.    Late Start     Homework: Math work sheet and last day to play your math game. Please return your Math Game Bag tomorrow.
2/6	D Day	We have gym and music.       Homework: Read for 15 min and mark your reading log.
2/7	E Day	We have art.     We do not have homework.  Remember to read this weekend.

Word Work: Our class will be learning about the vowel diphthong /oi/ syllable patterns this week. Our syllable pattern makes the sound as in enjoy, boil, and employer. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week

Monday Morning Meetings: We are now in full swing of meeting together every Monday as a 2nd grade group. The concepts that we have discussed is the brain is like a muscle, there is power in making mistakes, and the importance of the word YET. We will continue with more on the word YET, the importance of hope, and ways we can be mindful. These are great topics to talk with your student about. Let Mrs. Laukus or Mrs. Starks know if you have any questions.

Valentine’s Day: Our class Valentine’s Day Party will be, February 14th. Students will be exchanging valentines with one another. Valentine mailboxes can be made out of cereal boxes, shoe boxes, or any other small container. Please make sure your child’s first name is written clear on the box and the hole is large enough to accommodate small treats as well as a card. Students should sign and address valentines for each classmate. A class list will be sent home on Monday, Feb. 4th. If this is a hardship for anyone, please contact me. Valentine’s Day Mailboxes and cards may start coming to school on Wednesday, February 12th. Please do not send in mailboxes or cards ahead of time. We do not have enough storage space. Thank you
